Story Time for Grown Up with David Loftus

“Story Time for Grown Ups” returns to Rose City Book Pub featuring unsettling stories for adults by Roald Dahl, one of the most imaginative storytellers of the 20th century.

Best known for his books for children, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, The BFG, Matilda, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and others subsequently made into live-action or animated movies, the former British fighter pilot and sometime spy also wrote disturbing tales for grownups, in which poachers and con artists concocted “fool-proof” schemes that usually backfired, men and women deceived and murdered their spouses, a woman might keep her deceased husband’s brain alive in a vat, and a malnourished baby was fed royal bee jelly with creepy results.

Enjoy a brew or cup of tea at Portland’s one-and-only combination used bookstore and taproom, and enjoy the startling work of this unique author. No cover.
