Diary of a Mad Girl is an illustrated literary comedy about climate anxiety, burnout, and millennial activism culture, following a climate organizer navigating nonprofit work, relationships, and increasingly surreal internal (and external) worlds. Blending illustrated diary entries, poetry, and short narrative sections, it has been described as "Diary of a Wimpy Kid for burnt-out adults."
Inspired in part by recent upheaval within the environmental movement, including the Sierra Club layoffs, the book explores the emotional realities of nonprofit work, organizing, and trying to build a meaningful life amid overlapping personal and ecological crises. While the subject matter is serious, the book approaches it with humor, absurdity, and a deep belief in the importance of community.
